Schedule guide

How to make a round-robin schedule

This generator uses the circle scheduling method to cover every possible matchup without duplicates in a single round robin.

  1. Paste the participants

Add each team, player, or pair on its own line.

  2. Choose single or double

Single schedules each pairing once. Double adds a return matchup with the order reversed.

  3. Set available courts

If space is limited, enter the number of courts or fields to divide rounds into slots.

  4. Copy or print

Take the completed schedule wherever your event is organized.

Matches and rotating byes

For n participants, a single round robin contains n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches. With an odd participant count, one bye is assigned per round and rotates through the full list. A double round robin repeats the rotation with home and away positions reversed.

Common questions

Round-robin schedule FAQ

How many games are in a round-robin tournament?

A single round robin with n participants has n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 games. A double round robin has twice that number.

What happens with an odd number of teams?

One participant receives a bye in each round. Byes rotate so everyone receives one during a single round robin.

Can I limit the number of courts or fields?

Yes. Enter the number available and matches are assigned to numbered courts or fields and sequential slots.

Does randomizing change which teams play?

No. It changes the starting order, but a mathematically complete schedule still includes every required matchup.

Is my schedule saved or uploaded?

Nothing is uploaded. Participant names and setup options are stored locally only if you turn on Remember on this device, or included in a backup only when you download one. Copy or print a generated schedule to keep that exact result.
